We Will Not Pay (the original site used to be at wewillnotpay.org, til some lowlife squatter stole the URL from us) is a few members of the vast pool of people who have gotten cars towed and signed over to City Tow/Pick Your Part. We realized independently that the innocuous notices we received could be the sign of something major: an unscruplous effort to separate an unknowing public from their money. We decided to take action, and hope that by reading this website you will decide to take action too. Spread the word, inform all your friends who might have gotten one of these notices that Rickenbacker Collections and City Tow might be taking them for a ride.
CHICKEN JOHN: Chicken John is a local supporter of the artistic community and an inadvertent freedom fighter. He has been a mechanic all of his life in one form or another and is an entertainer, artist, and local business owner. He lives in the Mission with his associate Dammit The Amazing Wonderdog. He hates cars but hates City Tow even more.
SIMONE, GAL FRIDAY: Simone is a professional gal friday in the non-profit and artistic communities of San Francisco. Being a triplicate-copy kinda girl she did a little research with Chicken before she decided not to simply throw a lot of money that she didn’t have at the problem to make it go away. She enjoys carbonless paper, text html programs and filing, but hates walking to Folsom Street to find a little pile of shattered safety glass where her car used to be.
